About Projectmaterials

The Knowledge Base

Projectmaterials is a free technical knowledge base for piping engineers, procurement professionals, and anyone working with industrial piping materials in oil & gas, petrochemical, and energy projects.

Since 2014, we’ve published 200+ in-depth articles covering pipes, valves, fittings, flanges, and related equipment. Our content is written by industry professionals and used daily by engineers at companies like Saudi Aramco, Shell, ExxonMobil, Bechtel, and Fluor.

The Software

Projectmaterials is also a procurement automation platform that helps EPC contractors and oil & gas companies streamline the RFQ-to-award process for piping materials.

Who We Are

Projectmaterials is developed by Envestis SA, based in Lugano, Switzerland.

Not Just Software Developers

We’re not a typical tech company that discovered piping materials last year. Since 2009, we’ve been trading thousands of tons of pipes, valves, fittings, and flanges - sourcing materials for refineries, offshore platforms, and petrochemical plants across the globe.

We’ve lived through the chaos: the endless email chains, the Excel nightmares, the manual bid tabulations that take weeks, the audit failures. We know what it’s like to track down an MTR at 2 AM because a shipment is stuck at customs.

Why We Built This

The piping industry runs on processes that haven’t changed in 50 years. While every other sector has digitalized, procurement professionals still copy-paste line items from PDFs into spreadsheets.

We decided to change that - not because we read about it in a business book, but because we’ve felt the pain firsthand. We combine deep technical knowledge of piping materials with software engineering expertise to build tools that actually solve real problems.

Our Mission

To digitalize piping procurement and give engineers and buyers back the time they waste on manual, repetitive tasks - so they can focus on what actually matters: building projects safely and on time.
