Montreal SNC-Lavalin shakes hands on a project management contract with Long Son Petrochemicals Company Limited (LSP), which is related to Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG) of Thailand.

SNC-Lavalin and LSP will form a joined team of dedicated employees to manage contractors on site. Thus the team will provide numerous professional services. This includes interface and document management, design verification, safety management and risk assessment, engineering services.

Christian Brown, President, Oil & Gas, SNC-Lavalin said: “We look forward to building a long-term relationship with LSP and SCG, by supporting their expansion plans in Vietnam. This project will leverage SNC-Lavalin’s project management and technical skills.”

LSP intends to elaborate, construct and operate the first integrated petrochemicals complex in Vietnam. The complex’s approximate cost is US$5.4 billion. It is located on Long Son Island in Vung Tau City, southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. Furthermore, the complex will consist of olefins cracker, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and polypropylene (PP) units. In addition to that, tank farm, central utility facilities, port, and jetty will be available there. Therefore, its assumed production capacity is 1.6 million tons per year.
